it’s a new year – and for britain there can only be one new year’s resolution…
…to stick to the long-term plan that is turning our country around.
when we came to office, our economy was on its knees.
three and a half years later, we are turning a corner.
we see it in the businesses that are opening up, the people who are getting decent jobs, the factories that are making british goods and selling them to the world again.
the plan is working.
that’s why this year, 2022, we are not just going to stick to the plan – we are going to re-double our efforts to deliver every part of it, to benefit the whole country and secure a better future for everyone.
we’ll continue with the vital work on the deficit.
we’ve reduced it by a third already…
…and this year we will continue that difficult work, to safeguard our economy for the long-term, to keep mortgage rates low and to help families across britain.
we’re going to keep on doing everything possible to help hardworking people feel financially secure…
…cutting income ta_es and freezing fuel duty.
we’ll keep on working even harder to create more jobs, whether that’s through investment in our roads and railways, lower jobs ta_es, or more help for britain’s amazing small businesses.
those who run our small businesses are heroes and heroines, they are the backbone of our economy and we are supporting them every step of the way.
we are going to keep on with our vital work on welfare and immigration too.
we’ve already capped welfare and cut immigration…
…and this year, we’ll carry on building an economy for people who work hard and play by the rules.
and last but not least – we’re going to keep on delivering the best schools and skills for our children and young people…
…so that when they leave education they have a real chance to get on in life.
so this is a vital year for our economy.
and 2022 is also an important date in the history of the united kingdom.
the referendum vote will be the biggest decision scotland has ever been asked to make.
the outcome matters to all of us, wherever we live in the uk.
this is not a vote for the ne_t few years, but a vote that could change our country forever.
our family of nations is at its best when we work together with shared interest and common purpose.
so this year, let the message go out from england, wales and northern ireland to everyone in scotland…
…we want you to stay – and together we can build an even stronger united kingdom for our children and grandchildren.
so that is what our long-term plan is about…
…and we will stick to that plan this year.
i’d like to wish everyone a happy new year – and best wishes for 2022.

well, it's almost 2022 and i want to begin by wishing everybody in britain a very happy newyear.
for the green party, we're looking forward with optimism, confidence and determination. 2022 was a huge year for us. we saw our membership more than triple. we saw 1.1 millionvotes in the general election, more than four times more votes than we've ever won before. wesaw the return of caroline lucas as our brilliant green mp.
so 2022 – this is the year in which we need to turn the green surge into green votes andthat's what we're determined to do. what we need to do is, up and down the country, providepeople with the real alternative. and that is what we are doing.
because so many people, up and down the country, when we look at the local council electionsthat are coming up, are facing local government that's totally, or almost, a one-party state.they are finding that they're not having the tough questions asked. the local council isn'tgetting the scrutiny it needs.
so, sure, local councils are suffering enormously under the government's hideous program ofausterity, but we should always be asking: can they do better? can they look after particularlythe more vulnerable in their community better? can they do a better job with their localenvironment?
so, in the council elections, we're looking to really grow our number of green councillors acrossengland and wales.
and then we've got the assembly elections in wales and in london. and these are the chancewhere we can significantly grow our representation, win our first assembly members in wales inwhat are fair proportional elections, in which people can be sure that their vote counts. if youvote for what you believe in, you can get it.
and of course, our sister party up in scotland is looking forward with real confidence andenthusiasm to the scottish parliament elections there.
what we want, one of the things we need to be getting out of 2022, is the same kind ofelections, fair proportional elections all around the county, particularly to westminster and ofcourse getting rid of our un-elected house of lords.
it was in 1918 when women got the vote. that was the last time we saw significant reform inthe westminster parliament.
now, it really is time for us to think again, look again, plan again, and get real change in ourdemocracy. to get to a situation where people know that their vote counts, they don't have tomake complicated calculations about what other people are going to vote, they can simplyvote for what they want and get it.
that's what i would urge everyone to make a resolution for 2022. to do your bit towardselectoral reform. it is, after all, our human right to have a fair democracy that reflects ourpolitical will. and of course, in 2022, we're also going to have to be defending our human rights.human rights act is under attack from our government and we need to stand up and defendit.
so a new year, new possibilities. we've got a government that doesn't have a mandate for thehideous austerity that it's imposing, for the disastrous environmental policies, for its threatsto our human rights.
this government only won the support of 24% of eligible voters. that's no kind of mandate.
let's pledge in 2022 to ensure that we make real progress toward the real change we need, apolitical system that works for the common good, not just for the few of the richest and apolitical system that delivers a society where we're living within our environmental limits.
and after all, at the end of the day, that's not politics, it's physics. we have to do it. we have tohave real change in britain.

i earnestly hope to lead a healthy and prosperous life in the future. judging from my aptitude inclination and personality streaks, my ideal life will be that of a scientist, researching, lecturing, and writing books. as i am from a farming family, i particularly enjoy being close to earth. if i can afford to live a pastoral life in the countryside, i will feel most blessed. as far as social life is concerned, simplicity is what i intend to pursue, so i really don't need too many friends. all these will be mere talk if i am idle now. to attain my goal, i must make a point of training my body and mind. this is a highly competitive society in which everyone is eager to come out on top. that is not only a competition of physical strength and mental power, but a marathon of patience, faith, and perseverance. life is not all roses, but with what i am being equipped with by the top teachers in this elite school, i surely deserve a promising prospect.
i am a primary school student. and i am the only child in my family. my families take too good care of me.
they often work too much for me.

good afternoon everyone.i’m wu yunfei .today ,i’ll talk about the topic about spring festival .
the spring festival ,chinese new year,is the most important festival for all us. but we find the western festival become more popular than new year in the recently years. some people wonder whether the christmas will replace the spring festival in the future.we can find easily christmas cards become popular with students.meanwhile the spring festival is less appealing to youngsters.then this worry is fairly unnecessary .why?do we should treasure the spring festival forever?
in my opinion ,the spring festival as the most influential traditional festival have important meaning for us .several days before the new year, people begin to prepare. farmers kill pigs, sheep, cocks and hens. city dwellers buy meat fish and vegetables. houses are cleaned; coupletsare posted on the doors.
colorful lanterns are hung at the gate.all family members will get together on new year eve to have a big meal . during which people do not work e_cept for the workers on duty. students do not go to school, and shops are closed. at the same time ,everyone celebrates to each other . when people meet on the way, they say to each other 'happy new year'..at about 12 o'clock, some parents and children light crackers.the whole sky is lighted brightly. we may watch the fireworks e_citedly. how busy it is! on the first early morning of one year, friends and relatives pay new year calls and gives presents to each other. at that time, children are the happiest because they can get many red packets form their parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts and so on.
i think,it is natural that with increasing e_changes with the west,a lot of western holidays have been gradually introduced into china. for us chinese we should never neglect or even discard our own traditional festivals. for centuries chinese have observed this traditional holiday to welcome the beginning of a new year. and we will treasure the spring festival forever.
dear teacher, dear students:
since ancient times, the plum blossom is always open in the new year. snowy, plum blossom launched a blushing face. no matter how ugly it used to be, but the spring is coming, to free the unfolding of a smiling face. , it is still beautiful, it is still fragrant.
floral, we also is such. new year's day festival, is a new starting point and end point will be abandoned. new laugh, calling, enlightenment, will install a new wing for us. in the new beginning, we have to show a new self, to let others see us the most beautiful smile. let's cheer for themselves, with their own hands feet on the ground, trying to climb to the summit of victory. glory belongs to success, success belongs to the efforts, and strive to belong to hard...
we are going to study the plum flower is proud snow let alone, let us in teenage years blossom a bright smiling face, let white wings took us to the wider heaven, be a proud snow let alone good student!
my speech finished, thank you!
i want to send my best wishes to everyone in britain and around the world marking rosh hashanah and yom kippur.
these high holy days give us a chance to look back – and to look forward. to look back at theimmense contribution jews make in britain: e_celling in every field, contributing in everycommunity, and living by those values – of decency, tolerance, hard work and responsibility– that are so central to the jewish faith and to british life.
and they give us a chance to look forward to a future free from conflict and prejudice. thatmeans lasting peace in the middle east – a future where families don’t live in fear of rocketattacks. and it means wiping out prejudice in this country, because we will not tolerate anti-semitism in britain. no disagreements on politics or policy can ever justify racism ore_tremism in any form. as long as i’m prime minister, we will do everything we can to tacklethis, and to ensure we learn the lessons of the past, as the holocaust commission, led by mickdavies, is doing so effectively.
around the world, britain stands for diversity and cohesiveness. when mosques came underattack who helped defend them? british jews. when a synagogue was under threat fromclosure, who helped save it? british muslims. this says a lot about who we are in this country –and it’s something we can celebrate and build upon.
so as we look back and look ahead, let me wish everyone a happy new year. g’mar tov andshanah tovah.
my fellow singaporeans:
what were your most memorable moments of 2022? for me, four moments in particularstood out.
the first was on 29 march, when we sent off our founding prime minister mr lee kuan yew.singaporeans lined the streets to bid him a final farewell. the rain was pouring. as the guncarriage left parliament house, people shouted his name. i was deeply moved to see everyone’sfaces – drenched, grieving, but not downcast. we were one people, grateful for what ourpioneers had achieved, resolved to take singapore further forward.
the second moment was the weekend of 4 july. over three days, i attended five events – ansg50 catholic mass; the jubilee day of prayer organised by protestant churches; a harmony indiversity concert organised by the taoist federation and new creation church; and two iftars –one in al-ansar mosque, and another organised by jalan kayu grassroots organisations as partof a racial harmony night. together, the events reflected the diversity of our society, ourracial and religious harmony, and the singapore identity which we have built over the past 50years.
my third moment was on 9 august, when we celebrated our golden jubilee at the padang. itwas not just the scale of the mobile column and fly-past, but the singapore story told throughthe lives of ordinary singaporeans past and present. that is why when our pioneer soldiersmarched past, we gave them our loudest cheer.
schoolchildren in led costumes put up an energetic and spectacular performance to endthe show on a high note. they reminded me why we are building singapore and gave meconfidence that they can chase their own rainbows and take singapore higher and further.
the fourth moment was on 11 september, polling day of the general elections. which directionwould singapore go? which team would we choose to lead us forward?
as the results came in, i felt gratified and happy that voters had delivered a big win forsingapore. we were united in our desire to secure our shared future, to achieve the best forsingapore. as i joined our supporters at toa payoh stadium that night, i took a photo of asupporter who had brought her baby along to share this historic moment. it encapsulated whatthe election was about – our people and our future.
why did i find these four moments memorable?
because they showed the world – and ourselves – what a determined and united people cando; why singapore is a shining red dot. despite the threats of isis and jihadist terrorism, whenother societies are troubled by intolerance and racial tensions, here in singapore we rejoicein our multi-racial harmony. where other countries are mired in political gridlock andpessimistic for the ne_t generation, we in singapore are united, hopeful and confident aboutour future.
but most of all, these were moments when we came together, and took responsibility for oneanother. we wept, we sang, we celebrated, we bonded together, and emerged stronger as oneunited people.
as sg50 ends, the ne_t chapter of the singapore story begins. we live in a very different worldfrom our pioneers fifty years ago. yes, we have many more opportunities in the globalisedworld, but we also face fiercer competition. yes, we have more resources, but we also havehigher aspirations. our economy is slowing down and undergoing transition. we cannot e_pectan easy journey ahead.
but the journey can be every bit as e_citing as the first 50 years. because we know that comewhat may – challenges, disappointments and sorrows – we will be here for one another. we willcelebrate our successes together, because we know we can only succeed together. the futureof us e_hibition gives us a glimpse of the future we can have. through the sgfutureconversations, we will all play a part in writing the singapore story.
our future is for us to make together, and i look forward to travelling the road ahead with youtogether.
happy new year!
